My First Warm-up Suit

I bet there are quite a few of you who have many of these in your closet. However, this post is going to be about my very first “me made” warm up suit (Some of you may call them joggers).  I had this jacket pattern in my stash for quite some time now (actually since I did the activewear sewing challenge last year). So I decided to use it for the jacket portion of my warm-up suit. It’s the Jalie  2795 “Zip Front Jacket“ pattern.

For the bottoms, I decided to use a pattern I just purchased from Hey June patterns called the “Mountain Pose Pants“. It’s a yoga style pant with two waist band options. I chose the overlapped front waistband.

Both of these patterns were very easy to make and relatively quick as well!  Because of this, I decided to hack the patterns right away by adding a 1” stripe to the sleeves of the jacket and the side seams of the pants. Sorry, I only have the sleeve hack photo. I forgot to take a picture of the pants pattern hack. But there are probably a lot of patterns that already include the stripe both on the pants and the jacket.

These were very easy hacks and turned out pretty well considering this is my very first warm-up suit.  The one thing I would change on future styles would be to make the jackets smaller… I made it a size medium and I would like it with just a little bit more fit. I will also make the pants without any flare, more of a “boot cut“ style cut. The fabric was purchased from Joann Fabrics and are both (black & gray) a heavy weight scuba (which is extremely warm).  I may try this with a softer sweatshirt material next time.
I really don’t know what took me so long to create one for myself. I had purchased warm-up suit about six years ago and wore it out because I loved it so much. Very comfortable, easy to travel in too! I will be making a few more of these in the future because it’s now going to be my “go to“ travel outfit!

Here are a few photos I took for you all...
Suit is a jogger, but I ain’t ya’ll!

...so, what do you think? Do you have warm-up suits in your closet?
